PRANAV DESAI | Assistant Professor of Finance at NOVA SBE
Pranav Desai teaches the class of Mergers, Acquisitions and Restructuring at Nova SBE Masters in Finance. He holds a PhD in Finance at Tilburg University, a MSC in Economics at University College London and a MSc in Finance at Lancaster University. His research interests lie in the areas of behavioral finance, entrepreneurial finance, and innovation. His current research highlights the costs of biased decisions by regulators for firms. His findings suggest that biases of individual regulators might distort the allocation of economically important property rights such as patents.

Madalena Godinho Ramos is a Principal at Blackstone, the world’s largest alternative asset manager, where she has been working for the past 6 years. Madalena was nominated for the 30 under 30 Forbes list, the first female Portuguese for professionals in Finance to get such a distinction. She has worked on more than 60 transactions as a core member of the firm’s European team, being one of the highlights her involvement in the company’s $1b investment in Datasite, the largest unitranche investment in Europe. Currently based in London, Madalena has previously worked at Morgan Stanley in London and also McKinsey and BBVA in Lisbon. She holds an MSc. in Finance from Imperial College London and a BSc. in Economics from Nova SBE.
Pedro Godinho Ramos is a Director at KKR Global Impact, the firm’s dedicated private equity strategy to invest in businesses delivering solutions to significant societal challenges. He joined KKR in 2020 and serves as a member of the Global Impact Investment Committee, the Portfolio Management Committee and KKR’s ESG taskforce in Europe. Currently based in London, Pedro has previously worked at Bluegem Capital Partners, Generation Investment Management, Bain Capital and Boston Consulting Group. Pedro holds an M.B.A. from INSEAD, an MSc. in Business Analytics from Warwick Business School and a BSc. in Economics from Nova SBE.

TOM MERCER | Founder of MOMA Foods | LinkedIn
Tom Mercer is the Founder of MOMA Foods, a London based porridge and oat milk brand, launched in 2006.
Tom started MOMA from a stall in Waterloo station, selling breakfast to hungry commuters. Since then MOMA is now sold in supermarkets and the foodservice sector throughout the UK and internationally. There have been several pivots along the way – from the original stalls, to a focus on bircher muesli, then instant porridge, and more recently on oat milk. In Dec ’21 Tom sold a majority stake in MOMA to AG Barr plc, and he will continue as CEO. Tom is from a farming family in Staffordshire, graduated in Management Studies at Cambridge, and prior to MOMA worked as a management consultant for Bain & Co.

João founded the FT 1000 company, Fancystage, in his 20’s and sold it in his 30’s. Still acting as Fancystage’s CEO, he is now a real estate investor and one of the largest stakeholders at the Humble Group, a Swedish food tech company that trades in the Nasdac Nordic. The Humble Group has more than 17,000 investors and trades with a market cap of €400M.
